The Funniest Thing on Failblog in Freaking Ages!!

This Girl is Awesome!!

Well done to Sophie! She absolutely smashed the London Marathon!!!

Not only did Sophie complete the London Marathon yesterday, she also raised over £2,000 for a charity called Survival, she finished 1377th out of all the women in the race AND did it in a time of 3hrs 49mins 57secs. Bloody hell! The best summary of this performance I have seen for this is from former London Marathon extraordinaire Lydia Gibson, "You are literally the tits!"

Sophie documented the whole experience from injuries, giant filter tips, debauched fundraising nights through to how YOU can GIVE HER charity MONEY all here loafsrunningdebacle.wordpress.com. I'm currently looking forward to seeing the post about the final event itself, be sure to keep checking!

I realise I havn't posted much music for a while so lets have a little go now.

Here's a track by Acid Over called Late Nite Tuff Guy it's ace!! Download it here. More music on the way another day!!

Bicycle Getaway!!

Ok, I'm still wasting my time on youtube check out this though!!

Bicycle Messenger Animation

Here's a video / animation I found on youtube about bicycle messengers in New York. The video would be better if the narrator was gagged for the duration but visually this is really nice! Defo worth a butchers!

Walk fatty you might pass a cake shop.

At first glances it looks like Transport for London have decided to take a humorous way of encouraging people to walk, on closer inspection the website about this project is at howmanystops.wordpress.com where you can see some of the other slogans to encourage people to walk. One of the best 'You pay £40 to go to the gym, walking is free.'

So I've spotted these messages to the London bussing public appear on bus stops around central London. I wander if anyone has decided to walk instead of catching the bus and also if anyone has discovered a new cake shop! A good idea no doubt and I hope to see a few more of these cropping up across town.

Also if anyone has ever DJ'ed you'll probably appreciate this site a lovely little collection of the most annoying requests made to DJs.

"dude: got any Jurassic Five?
dj: it's a Brit pop night tonight, so it wouldn't really fit in
dude: ok, what about Nirvana?
dj: Nirvana are American
dude: oh, I see. then how about The Smashing Pumpkins?
dj: ...."

This is not one from their site but one I got when I was DJing at the Cube in Southampton.

Annoying guy: Do you have any Killers?
Me: nope
Annoying guy: yeah you do.
Me: No I'm pretty sure I don't have any Killers...
Annoying guy: It's my girlfriend's birthday, she really wants to hear the Killers, can you play the Killers?
Me: I don't have any songs by the Killers.
Annoying guy: It's her birthday! Come on!!
Me: OK, I'll play the Killers.

At this point he leaves the DJ booth and I don't play the Killers. Ever.

Bestival Fancy Dress 2010

So I'm not sure when it was announced but while having a butchers at the (absolutely marvellous) line-up for this years Bestival, I noticed the fancy dress theme had been announced. It's a 'fantasy' theme with stuff like The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Lord of the Rings and Alice in Wonderland being suggested as inspiration. Last year it was an outer space theme which spawned some marvellous costumes, not least those of 'Tina Turnertron' and 'Robo Gent'.

Wearing this and seeing Krafterwerk will go down as one of the most memorable and brilliant moments of 2009 and I have no doubt Bestival will produce some of these moments for 2010. I'm already salivating at the thought!

So whilst enjoying Dizzee Rascall, The Flaming Lips, LCD Soundsystem and Vitalic what costume will I be encased in? Loaf used to be nicknamed 'Uni' and is thinking she may have some natural features that will lead to her making a super sexy unicorn.... the first thoughts that have come into my head are that of fauns. Although there's quite a difference between the first ones I have thought of.

Here's the first faun I thought of, from Pan's Labrynth.

Mr. Tumnus from the recent Narnia film.

And here he is in the TV series I watched waaay back when. Played by Jeffrey S. Perry (not that you needed to know that).

So there we are, the summer is only just starting to rear it's sunny head and I'm already thinking about what to wear at the summer's goodbye party! Any suggestions or thoughts are encouraged.

I wanted to ideally accompany a blog post about a music festival with some music, however I'm away from LDN at the mo, so this will have to do. Remember, you can come and see me DJ at 93 Feet East this Friday!!! Woo Woo!!
